Family Service Coordination Toolkit

Kansas Inservice Training System (KITS)

Early Intervention personnel who provide Family Service Coordination in Kansas are required to complete the Family Service Coordination (FSC) Toolkit within 3-months of assuming that role.

The toolkit is organized into 6 distinct lessons. Each lesson includes weblinks and other supporting material pertinent to the topic area and concludes with a formative assessment. For each lesson, the learner should work through the webpages and attachments, take the test at the end of each section, and review the information with a program mentor or coordinator. The mentor will assist the learner with application of the topics to Kansas-specific implementation of service coordination.

Upon completion of the toolkit, the local Part C Coordinator should request a certificate of completion for the provider. Certificates are valid indefinitely as a provider moves between programs within the state, if uninterrupted employment has occurred. A record of all providers completing this training is kept by the KITS administrative office.

To request a certificate, the local program coordinator submits the following information:

  1. The name and email address of the Family Service Coordinator or practitioner who completed the toolkit.
  2. The organization they are with.
  3. The date the toolkit was completed.
  4. Number of total hours the person took to complete the toolkit.

Please send certificate completion information to kskits@ku.edu.

The Family Service Coordination modules are hosted and maintained by DEC-SPED.

If you have issues with logging on to the toolkit, contact techsupport@dec-sped.org
